More Racism and Hatred from Johnstown PA

It’s difficult for me to believe that these hate mongers are really Americans. And this is exactly what Sarah Palin and John McCain support; lies and hate.

Economic Patriotism – UPDATE

This is Richard Trumba speaking to the United Steelworkers Union.  Here’s an American that supports “Economic Patriotism”.

Transcript:

You see brothers and sisters, there’s not a single good reason for any worker — especially any union member — to vote against Barack Obama.

There’s only one really bad reason to vote against him: because he’s not white.

And I want to talk about that because I saw that for myself during the Pennsylvania primary.

I went back home to vote in Nemacolin and I ran into a woman I’d known for years. She was active in Democratic politics when I was still in grade school.

We got to talking and I asked if she’d made up her mind who she was supporting and she said: ‘Oh absolutely, I’m voting for Hillary, there’s no way I’d ever vote for Obama.’

Well, why’s that? ‘Because he’s a Muslim.’

I told her, ‘That’s not true — he’s as much a Christian as you and me, so what if he’s muslim.’

Then she shook her head and said, ‘He won’t wear an American flag pin.’

I don’t have one on and neither do you.

But, ‘C’mon, he wears one plenty of times. He just says it takes more than wearing a flag pin to be patriotic.’

‘Well, I just don’t trust him.’

Why is that?

Her voice dropped just a bit: ‘Because he’s black.’

I said, ‘Look around. Nemacolin’s a dying town. There’re no jobs here. Kids are moving away because there’s no future here. And here’s a man, Barack Obama, who’s going to fight for people like us and you won’t vote for him because of the color of his skin.’

Brothers and sisters, we can’t tap dance around the fact that there are a lot of folks out there just like that woman.

A lot of them are good union people; they just can’t get past this idea that there’s something wrong with voting for a black man. Well, those of us who know better can’t afford to look the other way.

I’m not one for quoting dead philosophers, but back in the 1700s, Edmund Burke said: ‘All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.’ Well, there’s no evil that’s inflicted more pain and more suffering than racism — and it’s something we in the labor movement have a special responsibility to challenge.

It’s our special responsibility because we know, better than anyone else, how racism is used to divide working people.

We’ve seen how companies set worker against worker — how they throw whites a few extra crumbs off the table ndsh and how we all end up losing.

But we’ve seen something else, too. We’ve seen that when we cross that color line and stand together no one can keep us down.

That’s why the CIO was created. That’s why industrial unions were the first to stand up against lynching and segregation. People need to know that it was the Steel Workers Organizing Committee — this union — that was founded on the principal of organizing all workers without regard to race. That’s why the labor movement — imperfect as we are — is the most integrated institution in American life.

I don’t think we should be out there pointing fingers in peoples’ faces and calling them racist; instead we need to educate them that if they care about holding on to their jobs, their health care, their pensions, and their homes — if they care about creating good jobs with clean energy, child care, pay equity for women workers — there’s only going to be one candidate on the ballot this fall who’s on their side… only one candidate who’s going to stand up for their families… only one candidate who’s earned their votes… and his name is Barack Obama!

And come November we are going to elect him president.

And after he’s elected we are going to hit the ground running so that, years from now, we’re going to be able to tell our grandchildren that 2008 was the year this country finally turned its back on men like George Bush and Dick Cheney and John McCain

We’re going to be able to say that 2008 was the year we started ending the war in Iraq so we could use that money to create new jobs building wind generators, solar collectors, clean coal technology and retrofitting millions of buildings all across this country

We’re going to be able to look back and say that 2008 was the year the tide began to turn against the Rush Limbaughs, the Bill O’Reillys, the Ann Coulters and the right wing hate machine

Children Gassed by Racist Following DVD Distribution

Pennsylvanians be aware… this DVD is being distributed by the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Morning Call, the Reading Eagle, the Patriot and the Pittsburgh Gazette.

I passed this onto TheBruceBlog and he did a great job of posting so I’m just copying his post and placing here for everyone to see.

From Bruce:

I knew the Republicans would stoop low in this election, but this is really vile. The Clarion Fund backs McCain. Why isn’t he denouncing this?… Because McCain would do ANYTHING to win. He’d rather win an election that display moral integrity. Who knows, maybe someone in his campaign even approved of the DVDs being distributed hoping something like this would occur.

UPDATE: I’m now adding in this comment left on this post so to make sure everyone sees it. It’s from a woman named Valerie Curl:

“I already knew about Clarion Fund’s DVD and have been trying to get the national media to pay attention to it. The DVD was distributed to residents of every swing state–and only to swing states– through newspapers and directly into mail boxes.

The Clarion Fund is apparently a Canadian company, registered in NY. NY is suing the company over the DVD. But resolution of the suit will come too late for the election.

Nevertheless, the DVD will be believed by many people in those swing states. It is a hate-mongering DVD — despicable and vile.

If any of you in Swing states have access to your local media, contact them. Tell them of this hateful DVD, ask them to investigate and air/print the story. This 501(c)3 must be stopped. Their hate must be exposed.”

Thank you Valerie. I hope everyone follows your advice.

Muslim Children Gassed at Dayton Mosque After “Obsession” DVD Hits Ohio

Sun Sep 28, 2008 at 05:32:40 PM PDT

On Friday, September 26, the end of a week in which thousands of copies of Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West – the fear-mongering, anti-Muslim documentary being distributed by the millions in swing states via DVDs inserted in major newspapers and through the U.S. mail — were distributed by mail in Ohio, a “chemical irritant” was sprayed through a window of the Islamic Society of Greater Dayton, where 300 people were gathered for a Ramadan prayer service. The room that the chemical was sprayed into was the room where babies and children were being kept while their mothers were engaged in prayers. This, apparently, is what the scare tactic political campaigning of John McCain’s supporters has led to — Americans perpetrating a terrorist attack against innocent children on American soil.

I read the story as reported by the Dayton Daily News, but this was after I had received an email written by a friend of some of the victims of these American terrorists. The matter of fact news report in the Dayton paper didn’t come close to conveying the horrific impact of this unthinkable act like the email I had just read, so I asked the email’s author for permission to share what they had written. The author was with one of the families from the mosque — a mother and two of the small children who were in the room that was gassed — the day after the attack occurred.

“She told me that the gas was sprayed into the room where the babies and children were being kept while their mothers prayed together their Ramadan prayers. Panicked mothers ran for their babies, crying for their children so they could flee from the gas that was burning their eyes and throats and lungs. She grabbed her youngest in her arms and grabbed the hand of her other daughter, moving with the others to exit the building and the irritating substance there.

“The paramedic said the young one was in shock, and gave her oxygen to help her breathe. The child couldn’t stop sobbing.

“This didn’t happen in some far away place — but right here in Dayton, and to my friends. Many of the Iraqi refugees were praying together at the Mosque Friday evening. People that I know and love.

“I am hurt and angry. I tell her this is NOT America. She tells me this is not Heaven or Hell — there are good and bad people everywhere.

“She tells me that her daughters slept with her last night, the little one in her arms and sobbing throughout the night. She tells me she is afraid, and will never return to the mosque, and I wonder what kind of country is this where people have to fear attending their place of worship?

“The children come into the room, and tell me they want to leave America and return to Syria, where they had fled to from Iraq. They say they like me, … , and other American friends — but they are too afraid and want to leave. Should a 6 and 7 year old even have to contemplate the safety of their living situation?

“Did the anti-Muslim video circulating in the area have something to do with this incident, or is that just a bizarre coincidence? Who attacks women and children?

“What am I supposed to say to them? My words can’t keep them safe from what is nothing less than terrorism, American style. Isn’t losing loved ones, their homes, jobs, possessions and homeland enough? Is there no place where they can be safe?

“She didn’t want me to leave her tonight, but it was after midnight, and I needed to get home and write this to my friends. Tell me – tell me – what am I supposed to say to them?”

When acting as a representative of Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), the 501(c)3 non-profit organization that I work for, I cannot engage in political activities. The distribution of Obsession, however, although a political campaign scheme, clearly crosses over into the mission of MRFF. So, I’m going to make two statements here — one in my capacity as MRFF’s Research Director, and another as an individual whose disgust at the vile campaign tactics of John McCain’s supporters completely boiled over when I opened up the email about children being gassed.

My statement as MRFF’s Research Director:

The presidential campaign edition of the Obsession DVD, currently being distributed by the Clarion Fund, carries the endorsement of the chair of the counter-terrorism department of the U.S. Naval War College, using the name and authority of an official U.S. military institution not only to validate an attack the religion of Islam, but to influence a political campaign. For these reasons, this endorsement has been included in MRFF’s second lawsuit against the Department of Defense, which was filed on September 25 in the Federal District Court in Kansas.

My opinion as an individual and thoroughly appalled human being:

John McCain has a moral obligation to publicly censure the Clarion Fund, the organization that produced Obsession and is distributing the DVDs; to denounce the inflammatory, anti-Muslim message of Obsession; and to do everything in his power to stop any further campaign activities by his supporters that have the potential to incite violence.

What does this say about the South?

Check out this spread from Daily Kos…

McCain is polling 55 to Obama’s 38 in the South while the rest of the nation favors Obama.  What does that mean?  Could there still be racism in the Southern States? There have been several “Southern Republican Public Officials” using the term “uppity” lately which is a very nasty, racist term.

Just asking because it looks suspicious.

Since I’m a child of the Sixties, I remember the race riots and I remember the suppression of the black vote and I remember the phrase, “If you are white, you are right.  If you are black, then step back.”   It pains me to even write this post but racism needs to be addressed.  In God’s eyes, we are equal.  Why can’t people follow God’s lead?

A song from true Patriots…

Is it fear that keeps people hating others because of their skin color? We are all the same underneath.
Obama!

George Bush in a Skirt

Is Sarah Palin a racist?

Did she really make racist remarks?

Does she use racial slurs when refering to the indigenous people of Alaska?

And why is it that Alaskans are afraid to speak up and identify themselves?

What really goes on in Alaskan politics?

Is Sarah Palin George Bush in a skirt?

Should John McCain trust her or should he watch his back?

Would Sarah Palin work across Party lines?

Would Sarah Palin build relationships with other nations or would she be another bully like George W Bush?

With each day, more and more of the truth about Sarah Palin becomes public.  Read this

My daily prayer is “Dear God, do not let Sarah Palin get elected to the office of the Vice President. Amen.”

UPDATE:  After learning more about Sarah Palin, I realize that she is more like George Bush than Dick Cheney so I had to make some changes.  Here’s an example of the cronyism in Alaska.  Hum… sounds just like George W Bush and his sidekick Alberto Gonzalez.

JUNEAU, Alaska – Alaska’s investigation into whether Gov. Sarah Palin abused her power, a potentially damaging distraction for John McCain’s presidential campaign, ran into intensified resistance Tuesday when the attorney general said state employees would refuse to honor subpoenas in the case.

In a letter to state Sen. Hollis French, the Democrat overseeing the investigation, Republican Attorney General Talis Colberg asked that the subpoenas be withdrawn. He also said the employees would refuse to appear unless either the full state Senate or the entire Legislature votes to compel their testimony.

Colberg, who was appointed by Palin, said the employees are caught between their respect for the Legislature and their loyalty to the governor, who initially agreed to cooperate with the inquiry but has increasingly opposed it since McCain chose her as his running mate.

If Sarah and Todd Palin have nothing to hide, then they would cooperate.  They would respect the law and not try to avoid the law.  The Palins must think that the State Constitution in Alaska is nothing but a piece of paper.  Sound familiar?

Fear and Doubt

I found these quotes on MSNBC. Last night, some Republican delegates were asked how they would feel if Barack Obama won the Presidency. Here are two quotations along with my thoughts on these comments.

Fear, fear and more fear…

“My major concern is national security: I’ve got six granddaughters and a grandson. I want them to be absolutely safe in this country and to have the same freedom I’ve experienced,” said Rex Early, an Indianapolis insurance agency owner.

“We just don’t know enough about him,” complained Early about Obama.

The first quotation is absolute nonsense. Just the other day, a person drove through northwest Washington State randomly shooting at people and killing five people. Every one of those people felt safe when they left their house that morning. Instead, they were met with an American terrorist. We don’t have to worry about terrorists coming over here from other countries. We already have our own home grown terrorists. Need I mention Columbine and Virginia Tech? Every one of those shooters wanted to terrorize their victims. It doesn’t matter who’s bullet or bomb or poison kills you, dead is dead. And George W Bush didn’t do a damn thing to protect these people from the terrorists and I don’t know if he could have. The point is, stop looking over there and shaking in your boots when you can’t even control what’s already over here. My chances of being killed by another American right here, in this country, are a lot greater than getting killed by some foreign terrorist.

The second quotation sounds like covert racism. It can’t be anything else because we know a great deal more about Barack Obama than we do about Sarah Palin who would be one heartbeat away from being the President if John McCain gets elected. Besides, Barack Obama has more national experience and more education than Sarah Palin. No, this person was trying to hide the fact that he is afraid of having a “black” person become President. This really gets my blood boiling and I could say a lot more about it, but I will refrain myself at this time.

What is all comes down to is nothing but talking points from the Republicans. There are no new ideas or new solutions. They keep saying and doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. That’s known as stupidity and if you believe John McCain will bring a new tomorrow, then you are just as foolish.
