Here is Jim Gerlach’s latest plan for creating jobs.
Here is Jim Gerlach’s latest plan for creating jobs.
Personalized Social Security is the NEW code word for PRIVATIZING Social Security which is a way of DISMANTLING Social Security. Pat Toomey wants our Social Security money. He wants to hand it over to his friends on Wall Street. If Wall Street had our Social Security money, seniors would have absolutely NOTHING now. Workers saw their 401K’s become 201K’s and now the only safety net left is Social Security and the Republicans and Pat Toomey want that money, too.
Vote for Joe Sestak on November 2, 2010 and save Social Security.
Fortunately, President Obama made a pledge that Social Security will NOT be privatized or “personalized” while he is in office.
Democrats have always protected our seniors.
Tom Corbett joined ranks with Sharron Angle and other Republicans in condemning workers that have lost their jobs and are unable to find jobs. The statistics are 1 job for every 6 workers so get in line and hope for the best.
Statement From Jim Burn, Chairman Of The Pennsylvania Democratic Party Regarding Tom Corbett’s Remarks On Unemployed Pennsylvanians
Pittsburgh: Tom Corbett’s insensitive and callous remarks claiming many unemployed Pennsylvanians “are purposefully remaining unemployed in order to collect benefits“, demonstrates how out of touch he is with the working families of our Commonwealth. Since becoming the Republican candidate for Governor, Tom Corbett has continually taken positions that lead on to believe he lives in a different Pennsylvania than the rest of us.
In Tom Corbett’s Pennsylvania there is no need for unemployment benefits because there are plenty of jobs for everyone. In Tom Corbett’s Pennsylvania there is no need for healthcare reform because the current healthcare system is working just fine. In Tom Corbett’s Pennsylvania we don’t need millions of dollars of federal stimulus money because we don’t need jobs and our roads, bridges and schools don’t need improvement. Hanging-out at fundraisers with oil and gas company executives, Wall Street bankers and other wealthy Republican contributors, Tom Corbett sees a different Pennsylvania than the rest of us.
Tom Corbett needs to visit the Pennsylvania we live in and immediately apologize the unemployed workers he insulted with his inconsiderate remarks.
If this cute little puppy was captured on the streets of New York City, placed in a cage and not allowed to eat or drink water for one week and then taken to a sportman’s club, tossed into the air so that slob hunters could shoot it full of shotgun pellets and then tossed into a trash can while still alive and slowly dying, the residents of Pike Township and Pennsylvania would be up in arms, protesting in the streets and writing letters to the editor and to their State Senators and State Legislators to put a stop to this cruel and inhumane practice. Well, this is what is happening to pigeons. They are captured on the streets of New York City, starved and then tossed into the air so that Elmer Fudd can take a shot at these defenseless birds.
This happens two to three times a year at the Pike Sportsmens Club in Pike Township. The Pike Sportsmens Club no longer holds live pigeon shoots.
Here’s a link to a recent report by Channel 10 News, Philadelphia, Pa.
There is a court challenge to this pigeon shoot which Berks County District Attorney John T. Adams is refusing to persue. Is he refusing because he receives money from the Flyers Victory Club, a PAC devoted to promoting animal cruelty?
State Senator Mike O’Pake will not support ending live pigeon shoots and State Legislator, Tom Caltigirone will not allow the house bill that bans live pigeon shoots to come to the floor for a vote.
Dogs are considered “man’s best friend” and it is true, that many dogs have saved people’s lives. Another fact is that pigeons are also friends to man. Pigeons were used as carriers during the World Wars and the messages that they carried saved people’s lives. A pigeon is also a religious symbol and represents the Holy Spirit of the Christian Trinity. Read some more facts about pigeons. The slob hunters are ignorant and pigeon shoots are about money. This is a gambling event.
We pressured Harrisburg to put an end to puppy mills. Why isn’t Harrisburg putting an end to live pigeon shoots? Guess pigeons just aren’t as cute as puppies.
(No puppies were harmed during the writing of this thread. All the puppies in these pictures come from loving homes)
UPDATE: Pike Sportmen’s Club no longer holds live pigeon shoots but there are other clubs that still hold these games of animal cruelty.

Pennsylvania for Change endorses Joe Sestak for US Senate representing the people of Pennsylvania.
Joe is a supporter of gender equality.
Joe Sestak believes in building better lives and futures for working families – particularly America’s women. Today, women earn only 77 cents for every dollar that men earn and 12 percent of women are their family’s main wage earner. To ensure the opportunity for a more secure future for women and their families, Joe believes we need to ensure that women are not only provided fair wages, but also benefits that are based on their performance; equal rights to challenge unfair practices, secure health and safety – including the right to choose – and skill training in fields that are underrepresented by women; and secure retirements and pensions that guarantee their independence and economic security in the coming years.
He also supports a public option health care plan. When Joe Sestak retired from the Navy, he was offered many positions working for the military complex and he turned down these high paying jobs to run for Congress because he believes that it is his turn to give back to the American people.
Visit Joe’s website and read more about his position on issues, volunteer and/or contribute to his campaign. During the 2010 primary, help get out the vote for Joe.

What does a Prothonotary do?
The Prothonotary’s office serves a critical role in the county as it handles some of the most important legal documents people will ever need–judgments, civil actions, passports, and more–so the office of the Prothonotary must manage information efficiently and with care.
Charles Corbit is the Democratic candidate that Pennsylvania for Change endorses for Prothonotary for Berks County. To learn more about Charles Corbit, visit his website at: http://www.corbit2009.com/
Yesterday, February 14, 2009, the Pike Sportsmen’s Club held another one of their animal cruelty events. It was time for another one of those blood letting, cowardly pigeon shoots.
For the past couple of years, there has been legislation sitting in committee that would outlaw pigeon shoots in Pennsylvania. The NRA does not want this legislation to pass and the PA State Legislators are more beholding to the NRA than they are to their constituents.
These pigeon shoots are not only cruel to animals but they also are cruel to children. The cowardly gun slingers are opposed to getting themselves dirty or bloody so they pay children to pick up the injured birds. Notice that I wrote “injured” birds because these pigeons are not killed out right. They are hit with birdshot and left to die on the field.
Watch this video, if you can stomach it.
Have information about a pigeon shoot? Call 1-800-637-4124.
And then there are the “Turkey Shoots”. Warning: very graphic animal abuse.
Do something… contact your Legislator. Let’s put a stop to this vile behavior.
I’m sure Dick Cheney would enjoy these “canned” bird killings.
