Thanks, Democrats, for passing health care reform. Medicare will save $8 billion by the end of 2011. This is information that Republicans, like Pat Toomey, don’t want you to know.
The new health overhaul law is starting to produce savings for Medicare and will eventually add more than a decade of solvency to the program’s trust fund, the Obama administration said in an upbeat report released Monday.
Medicare will save about $8 billion by the end of next year, and as much as $575 billion over the rest of the decade, the report said.
“This reflects the priority we put on acting quickly to secure Medicare’s future,” Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told reporters. “We are going to ensure that seniors and Americans with disabilities get more value when they go to the hospital or to see a doctor.”

Keep in mind, if Pat Toomey gets elected, he will work hard to repeal health care reform along with dismantling Social Security. Seniors will be the biggest losers if Pat Toomey goes to the Senate. Pat Toomey is supported by big corporations and Wall Street Bankers and he will work to keep tax breaks for the rich while increasing taxes on the middle class and seniors.
Toomey refused in the interview Thursday to take absolute positions on taxes and said every option must remain available to lawmakers who tackle programs such as Social Security and Medicare — including increasing the retirement age for seniors.
Refusing to take a position means that he doesn’t want you to know the truth about where he stands and when every option is available, then dismantling Social Security is on the table.
