Pennsylvania’s Republican Candidate for Governor – UPDATE

The Republican candidate for Governor will be filing a frivolous lawsuit against the US Government.  Attorney General Tom Corbett will be joining other Republican AG’s in wasting taxpayers’ money on a frivolous lawsuit.  Republicans support  “torte reform” only until lawsuits benefit them.

Pennsylvania’s budget is stressed and instead of funding education and fighting crime, AG Tom Corbett wants to waste tax dollars filing a lawsuit that does NOT represent the best interest of Pennsylvanians.  This waste of tax payers money could lessen the amount of money available for programs for seniors such as Meals on Wheels.  Can you imagine?  Taking food out of granny’s mouth so that Republicans can sue the Government.

Now a little bit about what AG Tom Corbett wants to hand back to the Insurance companies…

  • Re-instate pre-existing condition exclusions for children in all new plans;
  • Remove immediate access to insurance for uninsured Americans who are uninsured because of a pre-existing condition;
  • Re-allow dropping people from coverage when they get sick in all individual plans;
  • Increase seniors’ prescription drug prices by re-opening the donut hole;
  • Remove tax credits to small businesses for purchasing coverage;
  • Re-establish lifetime limits and re-establish annual limits on benefits in all plans;
  • Remove coverage for an enrollee’s dependent children the age of 18;
  • Re-establish high co-pays for preventive services and immunizations.  Re-establish cost sharing for these services.
  • Remove consumers access to an effective internal and external appeals process to appeal new insurance plan decisions;
  • Prevent premium rebates to enrollees from insurers with high administrative expenditures and prevent public disclosure of the percent of premiums applied to overhead costs.

If AG Tom Corbett wins, then Pennsylvanians lose.   In other words, AG Tom Corbett wants to deny Pennsylvanians these benefits…

  • Prohibit pre-existing condition exclusions for children in all new plans;
  • Provide immediate access to insurance for uninsured Americans who are uninsured because of a pre-existing condition through a temporary high-risk pool;
  • Prohibit dropping people from coverage when they get sick in all individual plans;
  • Lower seniors’ prescription drug prices by beginning to close the donut hole;
  • Offer tax credits to small businesses to purchase coverage;
  • Eliminate lifetime limits and restrictive annual limits on benefits in all plans;
  • Require plans to cover an enrollee’s dependent children until age 26;
  • Require new plans to cover preventive services and immunizations without cost-sharing;
  • Ensure consumers have access to an effective internal and external appeals process to appeal new insurance plan decisions;
  • Require premium rebates to enrollees from insurers with high administrative expenditures and require public disclosure of the percent of premiums applied to overhead costs.

If Attorney General Tom Corbett, who is fully owned by Corporations, Wall Street and the Insurance Companies, wins, then Pennsylvanians lose.
