Republicans, Are You Listenin’

In honor of the upcoming Holiday Season, Pennsylvania for Change will be sharing parodies of famous Christmas songs.  This song is sung to the tune of “Winter Wonderland”.

Republicans, are ya listenin’
Whose ass now are ya kissin’
It’s a beautiful sight
We’re happy tonight
Walkin’ in a Democratic land.

In the meadow we can build a windmill
And generate some power for the town
In the fileds we’ll make sure it stays farmland
And kick the Walmart’s ass if they’re around.

Later, on they’ll conspire
As Limbaugh fans their ire
No matter what they do
More States will turn blue
Walkin’ in a Democratic land.

Reverse Bradley Effect ??? Is The Southeast Actually In Play For Obama???

Get your popcorn ready on election night… Again I will insist that an Obama win is now almost certain… Up to 95% according to the models I use.  The question is becoming how big will this win be ???  I mentioned in my last Full Electoral College Breakdown how a landslide win (375+ EC votes) was possible, what if I told you that states that many have written off got Obama to that mark ???  After the primaries I had indicated due to high African American turnout that I though states in the southeast were in play for Obama, particularly MS and GA with the Bob Barr effect perhaps much more the reason in GA.  I had gotten away from that idea after the “Palin bounce” but recent polling and a new study about the Bradley effect is making me re-think that these are indeed Safe McCain states.  I’ll get to that study in a second but first lets start with some numbers… We’ll begin in Mississippi…

Polls of this state have been sparse due to the fact its a safe Republican state…. In fact since 9/1 there have only been 3 polls done here, one by ARG who’s accuracy I question… on 9/9 Research 2000 did a poll indicating a +12 McCain win.  This was at the height of the Palin bounce for the red team… But by 9/30 the last poll done in MS the VERY Republican tilted Rasmussen had MS in the McCain column at +8.

Since that time there has been no more polling in MS and the more trusted polls like Survery USA haven’t been there at all.

My thoughts on MS at the end of the primary were that with a 35% voting public that is African American that in theory Obama would need to only get 20% of the white vote to win this state.  Now comes the kicker… a recent study on the Bradley effect shows that in some parts of the country there is a reverse Bradley effect…

The Bradley effect–a black politician doing well in the polls but badly in the actual election–has been much discussed but there is little data on how it would work this year. Now a team of researchers from the University of Washington has analyzed the data from the 32 Democratic primaries this year and come to a surprising conclusion. The effect existed in California, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, but a reverse effect existed in 12 other states, largely in the Southeast. Obama did better in the elections there than in the polls leading up to them. Researchers speculate that some people may tend to give pollsters the “socially correct” answer and in the Southeast, supporting the white person is socially correct.

Hmmm is the only thought that comes to mind on this issue… now on to Georgia…

Where along with a high African American turnout likely also come these to “B” words… “Bob Barr”

This state has been polled more and by other companies first I’ll start with Survery USA 9/15 poll showed McCain up +16, but by 9/29 that lead had been cut in half by Survery USA to +8 most polls this month have been in the McCain +7-+8 range with an error % of 5 %… add in Bob Barr stealing votes from McCain especially if he alienates more true conservatives and this possible reverse Bradley effect and Election Night could be very interesting indeed. On 10/9 there was a McCain plus 3 poll for GA as well.

Who do you support?

There are less than two months until the election, an
election that will decide the next President of the United States .

The person elected will be the president of all
Americans, not just the Democrats or the Republicans.

To show our solidarity as Americans, let’s all get
together and show each other our support for the candidate of our

It’s time that we come together, Democrats and
Republicans alike.

If you support the policies and character of Obama,
please drive with your headlights on during the day.

If you support John McCain, please drive with your
headlights off at night.

Thank you for your participation.

Dear Hillary – about those 18 million cracks…

Now before anyone starts attacking me (and you know who you are) for writing in support of Hillary Clinton, be sure to read Politics is Politics first. I was disappointed in Hillary Clinton’s attacks during the primary season. Since then, Hillary and I have “kissed and made up”, so to speak. What I did learn about Hillary is that she is very good at standing up for her principles and Americans. I liked and respected Hillary Clinton before the primaries and I still like and respect Hillary Clinton. If you want to attack me, please be sure to include a link to this site when you do it. Publicity will help spread the truth about Sarah Palin and John McCain.

Now that that is out of the way, I want to address the real issues. Last week, John McCain was pressured by his Republican handlers to choose an ultra conservative, right wing female to be his running mate. McCain’s first choice was Joe Lieberman and he also seriously considered Tom Ridge. But John McCain, no longer the maverick, folded his hand, adjusted his “Party” hat, and gave into the right wing, neocon Republicans that control him. All you moderate Republicans can forget about “the maverick” because “the maverick” threw away his deck of cards and packed up his guns and he won’t be back. It’s all right wing, Evangelicals all the way until election day and then if he wins, it will be more of Bush and Cheney years.

A Mother of Five

There are various reasons why someone will support and vote the Obama/Biden ticket.  A mother of five, a life long Republican, is taking this election very seriously and she took a long, hard look at all the candidates.  She did her homework by researching each one’s position on issues and she watched both the Democratic and Republican conventions paying particular attention to the speeches presented by the nominees for Vice President and President.  A letter that she composed was posted on My2Buck$ .  This is a very thoughtful and objective letter.  It’s long and well worth reading.  John McCain and Sarah Palin are losing the moderate Republicans.

Small Town

Currently, I live in a small community, population approximately 3000 people give or take a few hundred. I also lived in big cities like Philadelphia and Boston and a medium size city like Reading.

What I learned is that there is very little difference between the people from a small town and a large city. In both places, some people attend churches and some people don’t; some people own guns and some people don’t; some people take care of their health and some people don’t; some teenagers have premarital sex and some teenagers don’t; some residents are heterosexual and some residents aren’t; some people are kind and caring and some people are mean and nasty; some people have loving families and some people suffer abuse from a family member; some people are honest and some people lie; some people pay taxes and some people make fraudulent insurance claims; some people have pets and some people don’t; and some people volunteer and some people don’t.

Republicans don’t own small towns. Democrats don’t own small towns. The same is true for large cities.

There are some things that all these people do. Everyone breathes the air, everyone needs clean water, everyone needs safe food to eat and everyone must eliminate waste materials from their bodies. You see, small town, big town, it doesn’t matter. We are all the same.

Republicans at their convention spoke of divisiveness between Liberals and Conservatives. Barack Obama says “There are no Red States and there are no Blue States. There is only the United States of America.” In Wisconsin and at the Republican Convention, John McCain and Sarah Palin make it sound like they only care about “small towns”. How about caring for all Americans? That would be a novel idea for Republicans.

A Place Called Hope

Former President, William Jefferson Clinton gave a fantastic speech at the 2008 Democratic Convention. He stepped up to the bat and hit a grand slam home run. Go Bill! Just think, when Barack Obama gets elected, the trolls can blame that on Bill Clinton 😆
