End the Crisis in Gaza

While Israel claims it is under threat, its own actions and policies are actually the driving force of Palestinian resistance.  It is most extreme in Gaza.

Gaza is kept shut off by land, sea and air from the rest of the world and even from their relatives in the West Bank. They cannot export their products or import needed supplies to rebuild after each Israeli incursion or bombing. They are locked in an overcrowded prison with undrinkable water and worse and then condemned as terrorists if they protest.  Gaza is permanently under siege- who can live like that?

Now as Israel attacks, Gazans run terrorized in the streets or cower in their homes with nowhere to flee. (Warning leaflets dropped from the air have no use when there is no place to evacuate to.) They have no shelters, they cannot become refugees. They can’t even get ambulances through to collect the wounded and the many dead. Even on the beach a group of boys are not safe.  They are trapped victims of an unbelievable horror. No one comes to their aid.

What is the cause of this brutal attack?  Israel says it is self-defense, against rockets, against kidnappers, against tunnels.  Palestinian leaders in Gaza say they will not accept a ceasefire until the blockade is lifted, that they will not stop resisting until they can lead tolerable lives.

According to Nathan Thrall writing in the New York Times, the trigger of this most recent Israeli attack against Gaza was the Reconciliation Agreement under which Hamas agreed to turn over leadership of Gaza to President Abbas and his Fattah party and create a unity government.  The West at first supported this move, but Israel resisted and her allies fell into line. Thrall calls it, “Gaza and Israel: The Road to War, Paved by the West, (July 17, 2014).  He claims that Israel is trying to preserve the status quo- keeping control over Palestinian land, water, and lives.

The US is Israeli’s willing ally to the tune of 3 billion dollars a year in military aid, not because it is in our national interest, but because our politicians are afraid to confront right wing actions by the Israeli government.

The United States can help save both Israeli and Palestinian lives by demanding a lasting ceasefire, lifting the blockade on Gaza, ending U.S. military aid to Israel (or at least withholding such aid until a ceasefire begins and lasts for, say six months), hold all sides accountable for human rights violations, and engage with all Palestinian factions (including Hamas).

Personalized Social Security

Personalized Social Security is the NEW code word for PRIVATIZING Social Security which is a way of DISMANTLING Social Security.  Pat Toomey wants our Social Security money.  He wants to hand it over to his friends on Wall Street.  If Wall Street had our Social Security money, seniors would have absolutely NOTHING now.  Workers saw their 401K’s become 201K’s and now the only safety net left is Social Security and the Republicans and Pat Toomey want that money, too.

Vote for Joe Sestak on November 2, 2010 and save Social Security.

Fortunately, President Obama made a pledge that Social Security will NOT be privatized or “personalized” while he is in office.

Democrats have always protected our seniors.

Even though 85% of Americans want the Government to keep their hands off of Social Security, the Republicans are looking forward to getting their greedy hands on our money and handing it over to their friends on Wall Street.  Remember, Wall Street stole our 401K money and how former President Bush immediately called for the Government to bail out his rich friends on Wall Street.  The TARP money, Wall Street bailout was President George W. Bush’s plan to save our economy.

One more thing, if the Bush tax breaks for the rich was meant to create jobs as the Republicans claim, then why was there a net loss in jobs during the Bush years?  If these tax breaks really created jobs, there wouldn’t be a 9.5% unemployment rate.

Republicans are like the street scammers with the walnut shells.  Always up to tricks to take your money and make themselves rich.

Social Security keeps 20 million Americans out of poverty.  If the Republicans get a hold of this money, 20 million more Americans will be living in the streets.  We cannot afford a Republican controlled Congress.  Vote Joe Sestak for Senate and Manan Trivedi for the PA 6th Congressional District.  Re-elect Patrick Murphy.  These Democrats got our back.  They are all veterans that served our nation with honor and put their lives on the line to protect Americans. They walk the walk and deserve to continue to fight for us in Washington DC.

Pay attention:  Pat Toomey supports oil drilling in Lake Erie.  Yes, Pennsylvania shores along Lake Erie can look like the oil covered beaches of Louisiana.

Health Care Savings

Thanks, Democrats, for passing health care reform.  Medicare will save $8 billion by the end of 2011.  This is information that Republicans, like Pat Toomey, don’t want you to know.

The new health overhaul law is starting to produce savings for Medicare and will eventually add more than a decade of solvency to the program’s trust fund, the Obama administration said in an upbeat report released Monday.

Medicare will save about $8 billion by the end of next year, and as much as $575 billion over the rest of the decade, the report said.

“This reflects the priority we put on acting quickly to secure Medicare’s future,” Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told reporters. “We are going to ensure that seniors and Americans with disabilities get more value when they go to the hospital or to see a doctor.”

Read the complete article here.  You will be pleased to learn that health care reform was the right thing to do.  Keep in mind, if Pat Toomey gets elected, he will work hard to repeal health care reform along with dismantling Social Security.  Seniors will be the biggest losers if Pat Toomey goes to the Senate.  Pat Toomey is supported by big corporations and Wall Street Bankers and he will work to keep tax breaks for the rich while increasing taxes on the middle class and seniors.

Toomey refused in the interview Thursday to take absolute positions on taxes and said every option must remain available to lawmakers who tackle programs such as Social Security and Medicare — including increasing the retirement age for seniors.

Refusing to take a position means that he doesn’t want you to know the truth about where he stands and when every option is available, then dismantling Social Security is on the table.

Rick Santorum Loves Entitlements

You betcha!  Rick really enjoyed receiving his paycheck and health care benefits paid for by the taxpayers and then stealing from a small school district in Pennsylvania by lying about his residence.  Former senator Rick Santorum fought for torte reform while at the same time his wife sued two doctors.  Yeah, torte reform is good for everyone except the Santorums.  Now he is out their telling us to trust “Club for Growth” Pat Toomey, the thieving Wall Street Bankers’ best friend.  Why should we put our faith in anything that Rick Santorum says?  He was wrong when he was in the Senate and he is still wrong today.  Toomey would dismantle Social Security which means that old people will be back living in the streets or living with their children.  Social Security is one of the entitlements that Toomey wants to destroy.  The other would be Medicare.  Without Medicare, people 65 and older would have to choose between seeing their doctors and paying for their medications or buying food.  Toomey would vote AGAINST extending unemployment insurance benefits so if you can’t find a job, Toomey would just tell you, “Too bad, too sad, you lazy bum.”  Yet Toomey wants YOU to give him a job with excellent health benefits while denying the same benefit to his constituents.

The choice is clear.  Vote for Joe Sestak in November and PROTECT OUR RIGHTS.

And here’s a video showing Santorum disrespecting our President.  He told us that we were unpatriotic if we spoke out against Bush yet, he is calling our President Hitler.  Progressives were never this disrespectful.

What Small Businesses Don’t Need

I’m a small business owner and Republicans have NEVER done anything to help my business.  If my business was a large corporation, it would be a different matter.  The “Club for Growth” is only about helping corporations at the expense of small businesses.  If you vote Republican in November, then big corporations win and you lose.

Yikes!  Pat Toomey hates seniors.  He is against health care reform which will begin to close the doughnut hole in Medicare Part D and make medications cheaper.  Pat Toomey wants seniors to pay more for their drugs.

Pat Toomey hates American workers.  He would prefer to send our jobs overseas.

• Toomey argued free trade would create jobs, while acknowledging that workers might be “displaced.” While Toomey supported free trade policies so that American products could be bought in global markets, he also acknowledged that American workers would be “displaced” and should receive help. “It’s very important for jobs in the Lehigh Valley,” Toomey said. “Lucent can export more chips, Air Products can sell more gas and chemicals overseas, and it means Victualic can sell more overseas.” [Morning Call, 12/5/99, 1/21/00]

The Real Pat Toomey Part 1

The Club for Growth, a Washingon Lobbyest funded organization endorses Pat Toomey because Pat Toomey believes in limited government.  Translated, Pat Toomey will do the following if elected:

• Dismantle Social Security by handing over taxpayers money to the Wall Street Bandits,
• Expand Death Panels by dismantling Medicare and Medicaid by creating a voucher system that will not cover the cost of Insurance premiums.  This is a hand-off of taxpayers money to Insurance companies.

Any Tea Party member that is tired of government handouts, will NOT vote for Toomey because Toomey talks the talk but he is nothing more than a Republican that rewards his rich friends with taxpayers money.  In the meantime, the average American gets screwed, again.  If you liked the Wall Street bailout, then you will love the Toomey Wall Street handover of our tax dollars.

Make room for your parents because when they lose their Social Security, they will be moving in with you.  As for any inheritance, that money will go to the Insurance companies.   That is what Pat Toomey offers.  He will be another suit in Washington DC, stealing tax payers money.  If you think the economy is bad now, it will only get worse if Pat Toomey gets elected.

Don’t let Toomey fool you by saying that he is center right.  Anyone that wants to put doctors in jail for treating their patients is NOT anywhere near the center and is a fascist.   Toomey is far, far right.

Toomey will take away our freedoms.

Here’s Toomey on the issues… he would restrict bankruptcy rules meaning, he voted to make it more difficult to file for bankruptcy.  Now that is helping Wall Street and voting against the best interest of the people of Pennsylvania.  Yes, Toomey wants to keep feeding those fat cat bankers big bonuses even though we want our money back.

What Is The Difference?

Now that the polls show that Joe Sestak is gaining on Specter, Arlen has a change of heart and supports a public option for health care.

There’s been a lot of flip-floppin’ with Arlen Specter over the years. I’m not sure where he really stands on issues. Is Arlen Specter only changing his position on issues so that he can get re-elected or does he really believe what he is now saying?

As someone that has been sexually harassed on the job, I’m still finding it difficult to get past Arlen Specter’s treatment of Anita Hill. It is not easy to come forward and report sexual harassment. Clarence Thomas is Supreme Court Justice because of Specter’s bashing of Anita Hill.

How can we trust Arlen Specter?
