This is what’s wrong with our politics. At the Republican convention, speaker after speaker just flat-out lied, and our news media isn’t calling them on any of it. YOU CAN’T GET THE STORY FROM THE PUNDITS.
They smeared Barack Obama repeatedly and told lies big and small.
Here’s just a few of them:
– Sarah Palin and John McCain claim that Barack Obama wants to raise our taxes, but the vast majority of families are way better off under Barack Obama’s plan. JOHN MCCAIN ACTUALLY WANTS TO TAX OUR HEALTH BENEFITS!!! Barack Obama’s plan only raises taxes on people with individual incomes over a quarter-million dollars.
– Sarah Palin and John McCain lie and claim that their plan is better for people like us. They don’t cut taxes for us hardly at all, and wipe out that cut with their plan to tax our health benefits!!!! Barack Obama actually cuts middle class taxes to try to restore fairness that was lost under Bush.
– Sarah Palin lied when she said Barack Obama had authored “no major law, not even in the state senate.” This is just a bald-faced lie. In fact, just in the US Senate, Barack Obama passed the most sweeping reform package since Watergate, and reached across party lines to pass, with Senator Lugar, legislation to help keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of terrorists and, with Senator Coburn, legislation to create a revolutionary database that makes government more transparent and accountable.
– Sarah Palin and John McCain continue to lie about Barack Obama’s energy plans. They keep pushing more drilling as the main answer to our problems, when it won’t do anything to lower the price of gas. And then they claim Barack Obama, in the words of Palin, “is against producing [more energy]. Barack Obama is for producing more clean energy and ending our addiction to oil. He has the most comprehensive energy plan of any Presidential candidate in history.
– The Republicans keep attacking Barack Obama’s plans for Iraq, even though the Iraqi government AND THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION just signed an agreement that follows the plan Barack Obama has been advocating for months.
– It’s the same thing on negotiations and diplomacy. Sarah Palin attacked Barack Obama for holding the position that the Bush Administration has belatedly been forced to adopt: holding direct talks with Iran. We’re too strong a country to be afraid of talking to Iraq.
It goes on and on. I’m tired of the lies. AND I’M TIRED OF THE MEDIA NOT TELLING US THE TRUTH ABOUT THEM!
Let’s pass this along and let everyone know what’s really happening.

Minchy – I also believe that Americans have a responsibility to do a little research and learn the facts for ourselves. We can’t expect the media to spoon feed us – many of them are republicans AND biased.
Like you, it really bothers me that the republicans lie so much AND so EASILY!
The republicans and Lieberman just told lie after lie without embarrassment.
I hope Americans are smarter than the republican politicians.
Cats, thanks. I think from now on we all need to just keep posting the truth of each of the candidates plans and expose the Republican lies.
And also good news today. Sarah Palin’s investigation is being fast-tracked by Alaskan officials because she and McCain are trying to stonewall it.
So Obama simply has to do nothing, vote present, and taxes will increase. He can promote his plan, and be accurate that it lowers taxes yet still cause taxes to increase. Nice ploy.
Read his voting record. Read the voting record of the current democratic congress members. What do you think will happen?
This boils down to a question of trust. Stop comparing plans, that will get you nowhere. You cannot dispute what Obama’s written plan states (depends on when you read it apparently).
The real question is; Do you trust him to do what it/he says?
So how do you determine whether to trust someone?
I usually look at their history regarding that particular topic. Then I look at their history in general, have they lied before? Then I look at who they associate with and whether they are trustworthy.
When I apply those filters to Obama and the demoncratic leadership in congress I end up NOT believing them.
Ah, poor oxypolitis – I don’t trust McCain. He has lied way too many times just within the last 6 weeks. McCain has been all over the map this election season… first he was for it, then he was against it… wtf. McCain has no principles. He sold his soul to the Evangelicals and he proved that he cannot make sound choices. Just look at his VP choice. Palin knows nothing about national and international politics and I would never want her to make a decision about either. And then there was the financial crisis fiasco of suspending his campaign and then he did absolutely nothing to help the Main Street Americans. Yes, we should compare policies and plans. How else can someone make a decision. I know that I WILL NOT GET A TAX BREAK under McCain’s tax plan. I know that there is a GREATER CHANCE OF LOSING MY HEALTH INSURANCE under McCain’s plan. And I know that McCain offers nothing to improve education for young people.
The people that support McCain are the ones that keep looking backwards and dream about some “the good old days” because that is all McCain and Palin talk about… the past which means that they offer nothing for the future.
Obama talks about the future and that is what we need to think about. The Bush/Cheney years which John McCain endorsed whole heartedly has destroyed our economy. I want the future, not the past.
I will not convince you to vote for Obama because you already have your mind made up. You will not convince anyone to vote for McCain because your arguments are weak especially when you talk about lies. McCain is a liar and so is Sarah Palin. Look at their records. They are not trustworthy so I don’t know why you would support them. You need to find a more convincing argument.
Yeah yeah… Heard it before. More name calling and baseless accusations.
To what facts, history, reputation, or record do you base your trust in Obama on?
You’re just a poor judge of character.
“It is always more difficult to fight against faith than against knowledge.”
— Adolf Hitler
That’s why most all of Obama’s campaign promises talk about hope and faith and the future. His followers are as passionate, driven, and blind at the Hitler Youth.
Wait, perhaps I should take on your demeanor.
“Liar, liar, pants on fire!”
and lastly…. Go Phillies!
pol…
The Phillies won, by the way.
Yeah, Jesus Christ talked about hope and faith and he had followers, too.
If you are in the mind set to make comparisons with Hitler, then let’s start with the Bush/Cheney regime that has been trashing our Constitution for the last 8 years, spying on Americans illegally, encouraging torture, exposing a covert CIA Agent, and starting an illegal war. That is more akin to Hitler. McCain has voted with Bush 90% of time and that’s enough for me to say, “No McCain”.
In the year 2000, I actually liked John McCain. Then he started hugging Bush and allowing Bush to kiss him on the cheek. That was when I lost all my respect for John McCain. The John McCain of 2000 died when he dropped out of the race for president in 2000. I don’t who this John McCain of 2008 is. He is not the same person. He lost all his maverickiness. I don’t like this new McCain. He is too much like Bush. As for Palin, well, she likes socialism for Alaska. Don’t be fooled by her flirtatious winks and wiggles. She is self-serving and she is already throwing McCain under his Straight Talk Express.
I’m now beginning to tire of you.
